The right ergonomic office chair
People working in an office spend many hours of the day sitting on an office chair. And what about the prospects? This will not decrease - thanks to demographic change and the resulting longer working life. An office chair is therefore one of the most important components when setting up a workplace, and has a significant impact on people's health, well-being and performance .
Ergonomic office chairs have therefore experienced a "boom" in recent years. However, not every chair that is labeled "ergonomic" necessarily has a health-promoting effect. Quite the opposite. Conventional ergonomic office chairs and various ergonomic "health chairs" tend to put more strain on the body than they do to improve it.
Ergonomic guidelines often state that people should sit as still as possible at a 90-degree angle. Telephones, folders, etc. should ideally be placed within easy reach. In addition, the "burden of sitting" should be made easier for office chair owners with "comfortable" accessories such as headrests, backrests, and castors. In reality, this means one thing above all: restricted mobility. The consequences are incorrect sitting postures, strain on the intervertebral discs, tension, and muscle loss. So-called health chairs and products such as sitting balls or knee chairs in particular cannot be recommended without reservation. Either because they are unsafe (sitting balls can easily roll away) or because they lead to other incorrect postures . Therefore, many office chairs that use the (unprotected) term "ergonomics" are not necessarily the right solution when it comes to healthy sitting or avoiding the widespread problem of "back pain."
Ergonomics at work: Which office chairs are good for your back?
But what should a truly ergonomic and healthy office chair offer? It should adapt to its user, encourage and promote natural movements and allow for many different, individual sitting positions. Numerous studies have shown that sitting rigidly for long periods of time is not good for people - it can even make them ill. People are born to move and should ideally never adopt permanent positions.
Aeris office chairs are designed to be uncompromisingly based on the natural biomechanics of humans. Aeris desk chairs, such as the Swopper active chair and the 3Dee active office chair, use a special 3D active technology to allow spontaneous and intuitive movements in all directions while sitting: vertically, forwards towards the work surface and to the side. Every Aeris office chair follows the movements of the person. This means that you move twice as much on an Aeris swivel chair as on conventional office chairs. The vertical swing relieves the strain on the intervertebral discs, promotes blood flow and gets the circulation going. The lateral flexibility and the forward tilt increase the radius of action, while at the same time optimizing the sitting posture and strengthening the muscles.
In addition, Aeris office chairs deliberately do not have armrests. This allows unrestricted freedom of movement and spontaneous changes in position, e.g. shifting weight to the side. When sitting on an office chair with armrests, the distance between the office chair and the work surface is often too great because the armrests prevent you from moving too close. This leads to people sitting crookedly and leaning forward on their office chair in order to bridge the distance to the work surface. Aeris office chairs, on the other hand, prevent the wrong distance from the desk thanks to the lack of armrests and the 3D technology. Incorrect sitting positions, tension and back problems are thus avoided.
Active, dynamic sitting on the Aeris Swopper and Aeris 3Dee office chairs corresponds to the natural movement pattern of humans and is the healthiest way to sit. And that's great for your back.
Adjust your office chair correctly
No one has a "standard body" and everyone has different requirements when sitting. There are light, heavy, tall, short people, men, women, children, short legs, long torsos, etc. And a chair must react flexibly to these differences in order to achieve a health-promoting effect. This is why the Aeris Swopper and 3Dee office swivel chairs offer many individual adjustment options. The seats of the swivel chairs are height-adjustable to achieve an optimal angle between the hips and knees and to promote blood circulation. And the lateral deflection and vertical swing can also be optimally adjusted depending on the owner's need for movement and weight. In addition, the Aeris office chairs are available for different weight classes and body sizes in different equipment variants.
Office chairs from Aeris: real designer furniture!
In addition to ergonomics, design also plays a crucial role when buying a desk chair. Questions such as: "Where will the office chair be used?" "What color should my office chair be?" "Do I want a more classic look or can it be more unconventional?" "Do I really need wheels?" "What upholstery material should I choose?" "Do I need a backrest?" etc. must be answered. And Aeris has developed suitable chairs with numerous equipment options for these diverse needs.
For example, the Aeris Swopper office stool and the Aeris 3Dee active office chair are ideal for a classic desk. The Swopper's genius lies in its radicalness - in function and design. By dispensing with armrests and a backrest and using 3D technology with an integrated gas pressure spring, it allows maximum movement when sitting and is also unmistakable. The 3Dee office swivel chair will appeal more to those who also want to enjoy the benefits of sitting in three dimensions, but prefer the classic office look and the innovative backrest: a new generation of "executive chairs".
The Aeris Oyo - a combination of a rocking chair with a flexible backrest and a saddle seat in one - is a great object chair and eye-catcher at meetings, at reception, as a visitor's chair or in the aesthetically pleasing home office area. Due to its unusual shape, it is not really intended as an eight-hour office chair. But it is also suitable for active sitting. You can rock and swing with it and adopt many different sitting positions. The Aeris Oyo cantilever chair is available in many colors (including gray, red, green, blue).
For people who have to stand for long periods of time in their job, which is just as unhealthy as sitting for long periods of time, the Aeris Muvman active standing seat is the perfect solution. It is ideal for mobile standing sitting at desks, high work tables, receptions or information desks. The Aeris Muvman is also available with a special cover (antibacterial, wipeable) specifically for use in production, assembly or laboratories. It also takes up hardly any space, which means it can also be used in relatively small rooms. And its carrying handle makes it very mobile.
Aeris also has a suitable model for children: the height-adjustable Swoppster children's desk chair was specially designed for the high need for movement of children of kindergarten and primary school age and, thanks to the 3D technology, actively prevents posture and back problems. The Aeris Swoppster desk chair is available in four different seat and spring colors. The microvelour cover is also easy to clean, breathable, robust and hard-wearing.
Basically, all Aeris seating furniture is available in different seat cover variants, such as microfiber, felt or leather, and can therefore be used flexibly. In addition, accessories and equipment variants, such as base colors, spring leg variants, castors, backrests, etc., can be supplied optionally for an additional charge.
