Time to break rigid habits
Did you know that we are only really active for 3-4 hours a day? We spend the rest of the time sitting - a full 9.2 hours a day on average! The reason for this: conventional workplaces make us lazy - from rigid office chairs to fixed desks. Even if you are sporty or cycle to work, you sit for most of your day. Even a table tennis duel in the break room cannot compensate for the lack of exercise. Home office exacerbates the problem.
Standing still is a step backwards. Inactivity quickly robs us of concentration, energy and creativity. The result: lifestyle diseases such as diabetes, cardiovascular problems and, of course, back pain. A full 80 percent of employees have had back problems at some point in their working lives.
Back pain not only costs nerves, but also money: In 2022, this led to 96.7 million sick days in Germany - more than half more than ten years ago. The cost of absence? An impressive 12.4 billion euros for the German economy.

25 years ago, we demonstrated how important exercise is in the workplace with our first product, the Aeris Swopper .
