When we say that we want to help our customers lead healthier and happier lives, we are also referring to the place where those lives are lived: our planet.
That is why we are committed to a sustainable future and have made it our mission to firmly embed environmental, economic and social principles within our company. In doing so, we focus on durable designs, recycled materials and renewable energy to conserve resources and minimise waste. In this way, we aim to ensure that, together, we make a valuable contribution to future generations and help shape a world in which nature and humankind live in harmony.

‘120 per cent’ climate-neutral electricity
Since our foundation almost 20 years ago, we have set the course for a sustainable future. As early as 2007, when it was still a crazy idea, we opted for solar energy at our production site in Horgau. In 2013 and 2023, we expanded these efforts with further photovoltaic systems. As a result, we now generate significantly more energy than we need and feed the surplus into the grid to supply additional households.
By applying advanced KfW standards, innovative thermal insulation and efficient air-source heat pumps, we are further minimising the energy requirements of our production building. Our head office in Haar is also powered entirely by renewable energy.

Material cycle
Recycled and recyclable materials
Our products consist largely of recyclable components and incorporate a high proportion of recycled materials. For example, we use upholstery fabrics made from 100 per cent post-consumer polyester in many of our products. Already today, for instance, the Aeris Swopper is made from two-thirds recycled materials. Our aim is to increase this figure to 100 per cent.
The challenge lies in working with our partners to find solutions that do not yet exist. For example, there is currently no moulded foam made from 100 per cent recycled material. Nor is it currently possible to return gas springs to the material cycle. However, here at Aeris, we are conducting intensive research in collaboration with our partners to find forward-looking solutions in this area too.

Resource efficiency
Resource-efficient packaging solutions
When transporting goods, we are committed to reusing load-bearing containers. 76 per cent of our packaging is made from recycled paper. We use only water-based printing inks and maize starch as an adhesive for the corrugated cardboard. The wood used to produce the corrugated cardboard comes from FSC-certified forests.
Furthermore, we are working hard to eliminate the use of plastic bags and PE foam profiles. This sounds simple, but it isn’t, as many alternative materials either fail to meet transport requirements or do not convey the desired high-quality impression. We are already well ahead of the market in this respect, yet our aim is to achieve 100 per cent plastic-free packaging.

Durability thanks to ‘Hand-Made in Germany’
At Aeris, we place great importance on durability and reparability. Aeris chairs are handcrafted in Germany, and all products are subject to strict quality controls. Should a problem nevertheless arise, almost all parts of our products can be repaired or replaced. This means that Aeris products accompany their owners for many years to come.
This philosophy also enables us to deliver to our customers quickly, giving us a decisive advantage over the competition. For us, ‘Made in Germany’ stands for genuine quality and reliability – a clear added value for us and our customers.

Waste management
Reduction in the waste rate
Our aim is to minimise the volume of waste we generate. In 2022, we have already achieved a recycling rate of 86 per cent. To further optimise our waste management, we are currently working on various solutions, such as the use of reusable transport containers, improving the complaint rate and raising the quality standards of our supplier parts in order to reduce waste.

Regional and certified suppliers
We ensure that our partners and suppliers adhere to strict sustainability standards. 80 per cent of our suppliers are based in Germany, 53 per cent of whom are from Bavaria. This enables us to keep transport distances short and reduce CO₂ emissions. Many of our suppliers have also been awarded environmental certifications. For example, our fabric supplier Gabriel holds the EU Ecolabel, whilst Siro, the supplier that manufactures the wooden legs for our Aeris Numo, holds the FSC certification.

A forward-looking work culture
As an employer, we are committed to equality, diversity and inclusion, and we offer our staff regular training to promote these values. Our team comprises 13 nationalities and spans an age range from 17 to 80. We are particularly proud that 60 per cent of our management positions are held by women. The health and wellbeing of our staff are our top priority. That is why we offer flexible working arrangements and ergonomic workstations to enable an optimal work-life balance.
