That is why we strive for a sustainable future and have made it our mission to firmly anchor ecological, economic and social principles in our company. We rely on long-lasting designs, recycled materials and renewable energies to conserve resources and minimize waste. In this way, we want to ensure that together we make a valuable contribution to future generations and create a world in which nature and people live in harmony.
Energy generation
“120%” climate-neutral electricity
Since our founding almost 20 years ago, we have set the course for a sustainable future. Back in 2007, when it was still a crazy idea, we relied on solar energy at our production site in Horgau. In 2013 and 2023, we stepped up these efforts with additional photovoltaic systems. As a result, we now generate significantly more energy than we need and feed the surplus into the grid to supply additional households.
By using advanced KFW standards, innovative thermal insulation and efficient air heat pumps, we are further minimizing the energy requirements of our production building. Our headquarters in Haar is also operated 100 percent with renewable energy.

Material cycle

Our products consist largely of recyclable components and use many recycled materials. For example, we use cover fabrics made from 100 percent post-consumer polyester for many products. The Aeris Swopper, for example, is already made of two-thirds recycled materials. Our goal is to increase this number to 100 percent.
The challenge is to work with our partners to find solutions that do not yet exist. For example, there is no molded foam that is made from 100 percent recycled material. It is also not currently possible to return gas pressure springs to the material cycle. But we at Aeris are conducting intensive research with our partners to find future-oriented solutions here too.

Resource efficiency

When transporting goods, we consistently focus on the reuse of load carriers. Our packaging consists of 76 percent recycled paper. We only use water-based printing inks and corn starch as an adhesive for the corrugated cardboard. The wood used to make the corrugated cardboard comes from FSC-certified forests.
We are also working hard to avoid using film bags or PE foam profiles. That sounds simple, but it isn't, because many alternative materials either do not meet the transport requirements or do not convey the desired high-quality impression. Compared to the market, we are already very far along in this regard, but our aim is to achieve 100 percent plastic-free packaging.

Product life cycle
Langlebigkeit durch „Hand-Made in Germany“
At Aeris, we place great value on durability and repairability. Aeris chairs are handmade in Germany and all products are subject to strict quality controls. Should a problem arise, almost all parts of our products can be repaired or replaced. This means that Aeris products accompany their owners for many years.
This philosophy also enables us to deliver to our customers quickly, which gives us a decisive advantage over the competition. For us, "Made in Germany" stands for real quality and reliability - a clear added value for us and our customers.

Waste management
Reducing the waste rate
Our goal is to minimize waste generation. In 2022, we have already achieved a recycling rate of 86 percent. To further optimize our waste management, we are currently working on various solutions, such as using reusable transport containers, improving the complaint rate and increasing the quality standards of our supplier parts in order to reduce waste.

We ensure that our partners and suppliers adhere to strict sustainability standards. 80 percent of our suppliers come from Germany, 53 percent of them from Bavaria. This ensures short transport routes and lower CO2 emissions. Many of our suppliers also have environmental certificates. Our fabric supplier Gabriel, for example, has the EU Ecolabel and the supplier Siro, which produces the wooden feet for our Aeris Numo, has the FSC seal.

As an employer, we focus on equality, diversity and inclusion and offer our employees regular training to promote these values. Our team includes 13 nationalities and spans an age range from 17 to 80 years. We are particularly proud that 60 percent of our management positions are held by women.
